Current music:"love affair" - regina spektor

ouch
I've got a permanent retainer on my lower front teeth. It has been there for ten years or more. Most of the time I forget about it, but once a year or so I will move my tongue the wrong way and cut the bottom of it on a wire. I've done this recently and the bottom of my tongue is really sore and . . . cut.

Inner dialogue--
Me: "Mmm . . time for grapefruit!"
Me: "No way! That will really hurt!"
Me: "But grapefruit is gooooood!"
Me: "Don't do it."
*peels grapefruit, begins to eat it*
Me: "Ow--this really does hurt!"

My husband gets angry and tells me to go back to the orthodontist who put it in and get him to fix it. I don't want to drive to Missouri for something that is a problem once a year or so (if he'd even fix it now) and I don't feel like paying somebody else a couple of hundred dollars to fix it either. I would rather spend my money on things like . . . magazines and Halloween candy and a microchip for my dog.

I was going to write about something else, but I forgot what it was. Oh well.

My stomach and I have the same conversation about spicy food. Unfortunately, my stomach is always right, but I always win--which means everyone loses. :(

When we went camping I met a couple that felt it was more humane to tattoo their driver's license number on their pet's belly rather than get her chipped.

Yeah.

I'm surprised Mare's shelter didn't chip her. It was automatic with Peanut's Rescue group.

I think the Little Rock animal shelter is still getting their sealegs. They didn't spay her either because their operating trailer didn't have power. They wanted us to call back and make an appointment, but I didn't have complete confidence in their vet, so we had it done at our vets.

i had one...about seven years ago (geez) and still several years since i'd had it in, i was driving and eating a snickers when suddenly there's this giant piece of metal in my mouth! i'm freaking out thinking i had a legendary case of crap-that's-not-supposed-to-be-inside-food-being-inside-my-food and had weird visions of suing or whatever until seconds later i realized there was a weird space on my bottom teeth and that was in fact my permanent retainer losing its permanence...

when i had it in i never cut it, but even though i would cease to think about it i'd habitually "play" with it with my tongue, just moving it around it 'cuz it was there, though not thinking about it...

the two blobs of cement that held it in are still on the back of two of my teeth...

i just went to the orthodontist yesterday and got two new retainers. it was funny i personalized the top one to say "jazz hands" and the bottom one is leopard print. and the microchip for your dog(OMG CUTE) would be really nice.

My dog is some sort of rat terrier mix, maybe part pug as well.

I'm actually feeling quite well. My internet was down for quite a while and I just got back on today. I haven't lost any weight, but I measured myself a couple of days ago and (in the past month or so) I have lost two inches off my waist, two and a half inches off my hips and an inch and a half off my bust (sigh). So good news.

How are you doing?
